Substitute offered to the Senate International Trade and Economic Development Committee on February 2, 2006
To clarify that "underwater viewing tourism" is included in CTED's current mission to promote "wildlife viewing tourism." It removes proposed references to "wildlife and underwater viewing tourism" in the mission statement for the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. It removes the working conference on underwater viewing tourism to be led by CTED; refers to underwater ships as "dive attractions," not "artificial reefs." It excludes "sensitive areas" as appropriate
locations for using ships as dive attractions; changes the lead agency for the work group on the
use of ships as dive attractions from CTED to Fish & Wildlife, and changes the study criteria
for using ships as dive attractions to emphasize DNR's concerns about possible environmental
effects.
