2004 House Bill 2399
Introduced by Rep. Mary Lou Dickerson, (D-Seattle) (D) on January 13, 2004
To establish "family leave" insurance. “Family leave” means leave from work to care for a child or family member with a serious health condition. The bill intends to provide additional options for individuals to use in balancing work and family responsibilities in addition to those programs already offered by employers. The bill requires the establishment of a family leave insurance program and paid family leave insurance benefits. The bill would provide family leave insurance to an individual who must take unpaid family leave from work.   Official Text and Analysis.
Referred to the House Commerce & Labor Committee on January 13, 2004
But the bill did not receive a hearing by the cutoff date so it is a "dead bill" and will not be considered further.
