Introduced by Rep. Chris Strow (R) on January 1, 2007, to prohibit loans obtained in a fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading manner. The bill also prohibits unlicensed lenders from making payday loans to Washington residents. Loans made by unlicensed lenders would be deemed by the state as uncollectible and unenforceable. Violators would be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail or a fine no more than $1,000, or both.
